BAT MALAYSIAIS LOOKING FOR A CATEGORY MANAGER

SENIORITY LEVEL: Manager

FUNCTION: Trade & Marketing Distribution 

SALARY RANGE: Basic salary + Excellent benefits + Market leading bonus

LOCATION: Damansara City, Kuala Lumpur

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

The role is responsible for co-developing and managing the Category and Shopper plan for key customers to lead and deliver innovative category solutions with the support of DRBU, Customer Experience & Deployment, Customer Management & National Sales Team. This will include the deployment of Multi Category Unitary & Planograms to drive mutually beneficial outcomes for BAT & our customers.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • To develop specific category plans based on insights driven category drivers, working with the sales team to deliver incremental, sustainable, and profitable revenue growth.
  • Drive Total Nicotine category strategy across traditional retail, independents, vape specialist and HORECA.
  • Put in place the roadmap for the category journey, championing the benefits and impact of category management and insights.
  • Provide leading shopper insight through research and data to create actions that drive our total nicotine strategy with our key customers.
  • Key link between the Area & Malaysia End market teams with regards to the development and execution of the Channel strategy.
  • Contribute to the Commercial Strategy as well as support the business with relevant understanding and insight as and when required.
  • Deploy and co-build multicategory unitary and touchpoints to grow the total nicotine business.
  • Manage and develop external relationships, together with the relevant Account Managers, with key customer contacts defined within the engagement strategy.
  • Implement the required elements of the Category Vision by building a growth blueprint for key customers, customer managers and national sales to implement.
  • Commercialize category initiatives and partner with Customer Management Team & National Sales Team to find opportunities including recommendations to increase sales effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Develop Pricing & Promotion strategy across relevant categories.
  • Develop space management (ranging and assortment) strategy and drive them with key customers working to minimize out of stocks and improve our fair share index at shelf.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Possess at least a Degree or equivalent in any discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years in Category Management experience. Preferable FMCG Industry.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  • Have a competitive edge and thrive in a team environment
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and calm even in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • A highly independent individual with excellent team-working skills
  • Strength in analytical, interpersonal, communication (oral & written), negotiation and planning skills.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate, influence and able to present business recommendation to leadership team.
  • Experienced in managing agencies, suppliers, and budgeting.

BENEFICIAL

  • Experience in Trade Marketing, Shopper Insight, Brand Management and Account Management.
  • Having in-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry and trade.
